It's time again.. the top STUPIDIEST questions you've been asked!

I asked this a few years back being a non-Supra owner. The answers were mostly the same:

1: How much did you pay?
2: Is it turbo?
3: Aren't two turbos better than one?
4: How fast does it go?
5: What is the fastest you've driven it?

And other miscellanious stupid questions. Now that I -HAVE- a Supra, I realize that the questions haven't changed.. they've only gotten more interesting.

"NA? Whats that like single?" is my favourite.

How, precisely, do you answer some of these questions, specifically the one about "How much did you pay?" Personally I think it's rude as fuck and I've done everything from shake my head and snap back with, "How much did YOU pay?" I also REALLY don't understand the "How fast does it go?" question. Most production cars top out in the same general area (most on the street, anyways). I mean shit, it's not s CBR1KRR, I don't cruise around at 180.

Also, there are, I've found, the typical "My brother's aunts sister's dad has X and it's better than a Supra" people. I actually had someone with a newer Corolla tell me he had a supercharged MR2 motor in his Corolla and had it RWD converted, but had it all swapped out and put a kit on it because he got 'bored with it'.

What's the stitch? Some more dumb questions you've heard, anyone got a few I didn't list?

Not to start a argument with you, but why do u find it rude that people ask u how much u paid for it? i mean unless they give u the "oh wow u paid THAT MUCH FOR A PIECE OF SHIT" comment then i would think it was rude, but if it were like a young up and coming tuner (like myself) , a simple "oh....XXk dollars" i personally would be like, "oh ok, cool. NIce car by the way....."

Not so much stupid questions, but generally lame comments. Believe it not, they came from a "DSM owner with a built motor and a JDM knife-edge crank"

Him: "Its pretty cool how they put two different sized turbos in there"
Me: "Actually its a butterfly system, same size turbos"

Him: "I cant believe you dont have a FMIC"
Me: "I'm only BPU, dont really *need* it yet"

Him: "You need a new clutch...its way too noisy"
Me: "Its a lightweight flywheel & twin disc"

Him: "I still cant believe you dont have a FMIC"
Me: "Are you fuckin deaf?"

...cuz then you gotta get into the "wow, you paid that much for an 11-yr-old car?!" explanation. Its ridiculous. If they dont know what it is, and why it costs what it does, they wont get it from a 30 second lecture. Besides, its kinda like asking how much you make a year. None of their business anyway...

I kind of feel the same as HLY_SHFT, I have a MazdaSpeed Protégé with a Candy apple paint job. I get all kinds of stupid questions, but when someone stops me in the street or even on the road to ask me “how much did you pay for that paint job”, I think it’s rude too…
I mean you don’t even know me, yet you’re asking how much money I spent on my car…
Why don’t they just assume it cost me a lot of money or maybe I’m a rich kid, who's mommy & daddy paid of the work (I'm not)…. Mostly I’m cool about it, but after a day of driving & twenty questions later it does get to me….

i once ran into a guy in the parking lot of an auto parts store (i was in my mk3 at the time).... he had just bought a rear wiper blade for his 1g probe and he couldnt get it on... so he comes over to me and goes "do you know how to do this?" im like.. huh? he's like, "well, youve got the same car so i figured you might know how to put the blade on" LOL! our cars were parked 2 spots away from each other! he owned the probe, yet still thought my mk3 was the same car  obviously i knew how to put the blade on but i just told him it wasnt the same car and i drove away

suprisingly, never really had any dumb questions about my s14 other than the usual "does it have an SR?" or "is it turbod?"

Yea I agree, I dont think asking how much did you pay for it is a stupid question. It may be rude but its not a stupid question for someone looking to buy one.

Not hating, just pointing out that a mistake like that is much easier to forgive from people than alot of the others posted. If your a middle aged and higher Domestic guy and you see a I-6 turbo under the hood of a car, what are you going to think it is? My grandpa asked me if my 2J was a diesel when I had it on an engine stand, any I-6 he had ever seen were diesels in semi's and dump trucks.

So what do you do for a living?
How old are you?
Interested in a sale/trade?
How much did that (part goes here) cost?
Why didn't you get a (part)?
Do you street race?

I was at a carwash yesterday and was asked all of the questions in the first post. I will talk cars and try to be polite to anyone but damn you get tired of the same questions every day. The worst is when you have somebody tell you "yeah I was going to get a Supra but.....(insert excuse)... Once I was drying off my car after detailing it and I get some dickhead in a 240sx trying to drift behind my car. After he got out of his car and walked over to talk to me I said "You know if you would've hit my car I would have beat your ass, right? " he just turned walked back to his car. And I'm sure some of you get the "Are you in a car crew?" No "Want to join one?" No, I'm too old for that I'm actually 83 but I use Oil of Olay.
