I'd be interested too, as I'm about to purchase a NA Supra and swap in a GTE motor -- from what I've read in these forums, it should fit without issue (if you're using NA rear-end, drive-shaft) ... however, there may be some issue with control -- I guess the NA trans is controlled mechanically somehow (for shifting), while the TT is controlled by the ECU. The question is, if you use the NA Auto, and say an aftermarket ECU like AEM or ProEFI, is there some sensor you need to buy or something you need to plug in. I'm trying to understand this myself too.

 

The big physical difference is in the valve body, and tailshaft. The Supra NA trans uses a splined output shaft, where TT uses a bolt on flange. They can be swapped, but you have to take the trans apart completely to do it. The NA uses a cable to control line pressure...I believe the TT uses extra solenoids on the valve body to control line pressure. You can swap these as well. Yes you can use a TT trans in place of the NA, but its a bit of work swapping stuff.

I would recommend getting a TT flex plate and Torque convertor.

My aftermarket computer controls the transmission shift points and the cable controls the line pressure.

Induction Performance does many NA tranny's with ATF...its same trans as MKIII supra

 

Another option is the 1J auto.Also uses the cable setup for line pressure and beefier too.

can a TT auto LSD, or aristo LSD rear end work on an na auto? I’d like to get an atf built trans and put in an LSD at the same time.

 

You can do a rebuild, using a TT trans and your valvebody from the NA trans. Ive done it to my Jzs147 na-t
