its a theft prevention device, locking the wheel like that...

It should be able to move slightly to one side; just move it to that side, hold it, and turn the key.

 

LMAO! You took apart your steering column because you locked your wheel? OMG, this one is for the books. Just put your key in and turn the wheel in the direciton you locked it, as Justin said. :lol:

Wheel lock is a standard on a lot of cars, not really a trick

turn the wheel a tiny bit where its inbetween the steering locks and then turn the key mine does it all the time.

Too bad all that work went to waste taking off the column parts. But now you know how to dissassemble and hopefully reassemble corerctly

He was replacing the stereo. Shift knob needs to be taken off, but climate control definitely wasn't necessary.

 

ahh i felt like taking out the climate control cuz my a/c doesnt work anyway

well sorrrry people but ive never worked on a car, this is my first, and yes im the biggest noob. i also took off the steering column pieces from curiosity tooo...i dont really plan on putting them back on. I sorta feel like taking off other crap too...EGR cruise control rear wipermotor stuf....i dont know. my cars sorta hopeless.. :/

 

i guess i might sell some of the stuff (dash and crap is still in the garage) cuz i dont think ill ever insure the supra anyway

 

so you are just planning on taking random things off and driving it around un insured? please please if you dont have anything somewhat decent planned for this car give/sell it to someone that can put it to use.

 

im pretty sure noone wants to buy it...its a rustbucket. thats why i dont have plans for it
