Out with the old, in with the new...

Well... the Supra is on its way out as it is for sale and waiting for a new owner and I have moved on to something a little different for this time in my life. Still in about the same power/fun bracket but thanks to that lovely OD on the Tremec... I'll be getting a much needed increase in gas mileage for daily driving. Incase it mattered, I'll still be perusing SF and will be sure to throw a few words in here and there... but until I have a more expendable budget, the Supra scene is going to have to take a back seat. I'm sure at some point in my life I will return to these cars though, and most definately a third gen itteration. I just need to wait until I can actually fork out the cash to do all of the things that this car has begged me to do with it.

So, in the words of a very wise... tiger... "Tee tee for then, ta ta for now!" :ugh2:

Not a bad choice. I like Camaros alot. Good luck with it! What's the first mod you want to do with that car?

Modding this will be slim to none as I just wish to have a dependable yet fun car to drive for the next few years. It already has an aftermarket intake and SLP catback exhaust along with a 4.10 gear (still only turning 2k rpm at 75mph on the highway though!) which is pretty much how the car will stay for now. Subframe connectors and some other suspension esque mods may be in the near future, but I think I'll try to stay away from catching the performance mod bug.

Surprisingly, they get about 26-28 freeway. With the stepped up diff and the exhaust, it may be lower though. Technology changes and engineers actually figure out how to not lose power through the drivetrain. :bigthumb:

Yeah... seems silly to me... even my old 167K mile 7M supra got twice the gas mileage of a guzzling american V8... Whatever floats your boat, man, but imho a Supra is 10x the car that a Camaro is. They're fast, sure, but thats all they are.

LS1 6-spd F bodies and Corvettes get amazing highway mileage. The higher compression helps a lot too for fuel economy.
A friend of mine has a heads/cam stripper 6-spd Z28 and gets 31mpg + at 80mph on the freeway. Another friend with LS1Edit on his C5 got over 35mpg on the freeway at 85!

Low revs & high compression = economy.

Wreckless said it... Even with the 4.10 gear, I'm still seeing ~28mpg on the freeway and ~20 in town... compared to 22-24 freeway with the supra and 14-16 in town.

Good choice, only one prob tho

"Dependable car" and GM should never be used in the same sentence
In regards to drivetrain issues... these LS1 camaros are pretty solid. As long as I don't do anything stupid and blow up the rear end, I should be just fine. Most other issues that may arise will be less or as expensive as anything on the supra (parts availability is key here) so, again, i'm not too worried.

Dunno WTF you're talking about, I've seen a lot more 200,000+ mile Gm's than I've seen anythign else.

Also, the parts are CHEAP if something DOES go wrong. Not to mention excellent aftermarket support...

At least it's not a Chrysler...

Hey I went to the darkside as well when I got rid of my Supra a year or two ago. I thought I'd be happy w/ a truck or something like that. YEAH RIGHT!

I ended up w/ the 2000 M6 TA I have now. Just under two years later, It's a few months from a H/C swap and the 400rwhp barrier. The 4.10 gears are the BEST mod to do on the M6 cars. HANDS DOWN. I can still get 30mpg on the freeway and its a blast to drive in town. Tons of suppliers and competitors for mods and a network of tons and tons of people to help you out. Don't feel too bad!

All cars have their positives and negatives but I think that a true enthusiast is someone who can appreciate anything and can recognize it for what it is. I hate the types who think that their car is superior to everyone elses and nothing else could possibly be better. As you can see, there aren't many here that are the latter of those two types. Good choice and enjoy it!
