i dont know i was driving around trhe galleria area here in houston and i saw this hard top supra . It was a white mkiv it was nice.

but i took a 2nd observation at the car real quick and i noticed the car had a sun roof. it was the slide out sunroof like an integra, esclipse or something. i thought the car looked pretty nice with the sunroof. but have any of you guys have seen a sunroof on a supra???

sorry i didnt get pix i had no camera!

They never look right because the sunroof is flat but the roof curves so there's just this big flat spot on the top of the car.
I completely agree.

I saw this white na mkiv back in 2010 and it had a moonroof.

The owner is a security guard at the Chase building (where my dad works), I was looking for that pic.

Wasn't it a factory option on JDM Supras? I do remember seeing an Aussie member with a sunroof that didn't look flat to me. There was another that had a targa roof with a sunroof on it as well. If I'm wrong I'd like to know so I'm not spreading false info :nervous:
No it wasn't a factory option and yes we have a guy here in Sydney who has put in a sunroof in his car (nick: jasonlee on aussie forums), it's a bit different here because 99% of supras are hardtops, so people do things like that to them.

I know someone here who just purchased the one with the sunroof... But it was custom done... Looks damn sweet too!

That I did. I talked with the owner, extremely cool guy, and he said that he hates it. He bought it that way. It was an immaculate MKIV other than that...very minor mods done to it. It was a beautiful red too...no flaws...but that sunroof stuck out like a sore thumb! I shiver and curl up in the fetal position when I think about it. The owner said he would love to change it back, but isnt too concerned with it...even though he hates it too.

Hard to tell from this pic (http://www.to4r.com/media/swilson_supra to4r 019.jpg), but this car is owned by my buddy Steve Wilson. An original 94 NA hardtop converted to a full blown (brakes; 6MT; auto ring and pinion) APU Supra. He had a sun/moon roof installed back in '95 or '96, long before he went turbo and before I knew him as well.

It is so weird when people bump ancient threads and add NOTHING to them. It happens on every forum I visit and has baffled me since I first saw it.

On the topic though, I cannot believe anyone would do anything to a hard top. That is a tragedy.
Someone mentioned getting a clear targa for the regular targa cars.... that would be interesting, like the T-tops on the MR2 but in one piece of course. I'm sure it could be doable if the right guy was working on it. I have an MR2 with T-tops, and when the little headliner cover pieces aren't stuck on the underside of the glass, it feels like a greenhouse in the car. Very uncomfortable on any remotely warm day.

.....
It's usually people trying to build post count to get into OT or something.

On topic - I would not mind having a T-Top instead of my targa. Get about the same advantage and stiffen the top a bit.
I think I could still crawl out and grab someone on a big rig - don't you?

Sorry to bring back this thread but I'm considering on buying a na 5 spd with a sunroof.. does anyone think there is anyway possible to convert it back so that it looks exactly the same as it did before the sunroof was put on or atleast close to it? please and thank you

Definitely don't buy it, it would cost you almost as much as the car's worth to fix it correctly with a new roof panel and then re-painting the entire car to do it properly.

I don't know why people wouldn't just wait to buy a targa top instead of hacking up a hardtop to put in a horrible looking sunroof, absolutely ruins the lines of the car and not as enjoyable as a targa.

@TNH, The idea of a clear targa is definitely interesting, but could not see that being enjoyable on a hot day at all.

that's custom yooo. over the years i have seen 1-2 cars come up for sale with this same problem. hardtop with a sunroof. really makes you think what goes thru ppl's heads sometimes. myself i was thinking of doing a targa top with a sunroof.

Sorry had to get in this thread for all the people who can't believe people would do such a thing to a hard top. Well they were a lot cheaper to buy new compared to a targa top. Only people who cared about a hard top were hard core racers or people who couldn't afford the targa top. Now people see that only a few hard tops were produced and are now worth more than a targa that usually doesn't happen in car world. End of rant.
