What is the fastest/greatest car to challenge you on the road?

I was thinking about this when looking at the kill stories and looking at getting attention. I can tell you what it was for me. about 4 months ago I was driving on the highway from the club and all of a sudden a black Audi R8 pulls behind and tries to race me. I oblige and run him from 60mph and shut him down at 140mph beating him by 3 cars.

Rules:

1) The car needs to challenge you, not the other way around.

2) It can be a kill or a death.

3) This is not limited to the fastest car to challenge you (because I've raced some fast shitboxes :D)

4) This is limited to only random occurences on the street.

This is really to refer to the greatest car (in your opinion in every aspect of a sports car) that has challenged you and acknowledged that you were a worthy opponent.

First time was in my dad's 1972 Datsun 1200 with a healthy built 1.4L. I was cruising around one night around 1997 when a newer Lotus Esprit V8 came zipping through traffic. I got behind him going down a long big hill and I couldn't believe he actually went for it with me. I only lost about 5 or 6 car lengths going from 35 mph to around 90 mph, I thought it'd be a lot worse but it sure was fun.

Second time was just a couple years ago in my 1JZ Cressida. I had just swapped in the R154 and my wife and I were on vacation, fully loaded, driving through Chicago area when a Lamborghini Diablo pulled out in front of us. We went at it a couple times and every time he'd only pull about 2-3 car lengths on me at the start and then pretty much stay even after that, keeping our spread. I was at ~280 rwhp at that point, wish I had an empty car or the single conversion I would've walked all over him.

C6 Z06 no doubt, which I lost to by 2-3 cars, or an Audi R8, which I beat 2X, about 8 hours apart (positive it was the same guy).

I've had two C6 Corvettes, a modded GTO, and a SRT-8 Charger try to race me and I got killed each time. My car isn't fast at all, but my giant exhaust attracts a ton of attention.

The first Corvette attempted to race me on my way to work one morning back in September. Needless to say, I got killed.

The GTO race was on the day before the first Corvette race on my way to work. Once again, I got killed at first but he got stuck in traffic while I whipped around and won.

The second Corvette race was last weekend While I was on my way to meet up with some friends. My SC300 is currently on stock 15" wheels so it doesn't look sporty at all except for my exhaust. The Corvette killed me of course.

Later that night, an SRT-8 Charger, Civic, and Cobalt SS attempted to race me. The Charger won, but it was in an area with a lot of cops, so I didn't push it. I killed the Civic and lost to the Cobalt. The Cobalt sounded like a lawnmower but took off like a missle. I had to take an exit down the street so the race ended pretty quickly.

In the month and a half that I've had my stock 15" wheels and new single exhaust on, I've had 10-15 cars attempt to race me. I never got this much attention before either. This was all in my SC300. I can't make it down the street without someone calling me out.

Ferrari Scaglietti tried to mess with me while My tuner (Shaodome on here) and I were street tuning on the Highway. 565hp of Italian Muscle I didn't know where it ranked in the food chain and really didn't feel like messing around, but he pulled right up on me while we are doing 85 in the HOV lane. he goes around us and comes right back in front of us. he squeezes and I decided to chase him. we are doing maybe 100mph. I wait for the lane next to us to get clear and move over. we are now side by side he took off and I layed into the throttle and without hesitation pulled away from him and then had to get on the brake right away. as traffic was coming up real fast. didnt think anything of it. then looked up the car and found out they are 565hp v12 $313k. based on how it looked (like a Masserati knock off) I thought it was a 150k entry level Ferrari.. the setup at the time was Borg Warner 88-75 mid 400's or so

This past summer, my dad challenged me one day with his newly acquired 2007 Z06. It really was a lovely car. I still had some c16 in my tank so I turned my boost up to 25 lbs. No honks, he just decided to take off from about 35 mph. I didn't really even have time brake boost, but I punched it. The tranny downshifted with a vengeance as my car undoubtedly recalled my father's taunts of me driving a "Subaru". I spun for a while but kept straight the entire time. Once I got traction, I reeled him quickly. By 90 I was even with him and at 100 I had a car on him. I let of around 115 as it grew to a bus length. My dad never brings up this encounter, nor does he acknowledge my "Subaru" anymore. One month later, he sold the Z06.

When I had my first BPU Supra (roughly 375rwhp) a Ford GT pulled up next to me in a parking lot and asked me if I wanted to race. I mulled it over for a split second and was about to say sure when he said that he was twin turbo. I laughed and said I don't think you should waste ur gas. We chatted and snapped some pics of both cars together. Didn't bother running because I know what kind of a beat down it would of been. The race would of lasted all of 1 gear before he was gone. From what I gather he had to have had AT LEAST 950rwhp and enough torque to twist the chasis coming off the line...

Man, I have such shitty luck. Nobody good ever wants to race me. My car is never on the road, but that's besides the point lol. Best race I've ever had was either a 03' SVT Cobra making around 400 rwhp when I was BPU, which was about dead even, or a 12 second eclipse I put 3 car lengths on from 40 - 100 (back when I was BPU). Also killed one of those typhoons back in the day. Can I talk about bikes? I've killed numerous 600cc bikes. They aren't cars though (as per op)

I had an Aston Martin Vantage that came up next to me while I was headed to a meet. 45-120 and I had 6+ cars on him. Im only a BPU+ car. But the guy was real cool. Good looking car too.

Nice kills... I had a run in with a Porsche 996 body style last night not sure if it was turbo or a Carerra, but I had 2 passengers with me and the targa top off and He took off on me from 60mph and as I reeled him in he let off.

Not the coolest car but the most recent encounter.

Well while driving down to tx with my girl in my 2009 c350 Benz I'm doing about 60 when I see a lil black car come creeping up on my tail I look at my speed again and I'm stil at 60 I look up an the black car is next to me it's a 2001 z4 shark I love at my girl as I click sport mode and smile . I switch to tectonic shift and drop to 3rd from 7th the old man looks at me and then punches it . I tell her to sit back and I put the throttle to the floor and don't let out til I hit 115 in 4th while passing a min van on this two lane roAd I look back to see the poor lil z4 8 cars back I slow to 75 and he pull up and gives me a thumbs up as he pull off the highway. BMW vs Benz . Benz takes the cake

A few weekends ago I was on I95 heading home from a friends house when out of no where comes a lil eg hatch revving on me like crazy. Since we were at freeway speed I dropped to third gear, he honked 3 times, we both got on it and that was the end of that. That fucking hatch pulled so hard the race was over before it began. I let off the gas and slowed down and cruised on home pretending that shit didn't just happen.

Can it be a bike? :)

The best fastest / greatest car to ever challenge me ... hard to remember. I'd say the coolest car to ever challenge me was a Lotus Esprit, you never see those on the road, let alone ones that want to play. I've had plenty of good woopings but I can't remember any good ones where I wasn't the 'instigator' ...

A little tough since I usually have to play a little to get any response...Less than you'd think though.

In this case, a spirited (ly driven) GT3 on the freeway rolling up fast caught my attention. As he passed, I mashed it in 5th (I was already doing about 80) to even up our speeds. He took notice and punched it -- getting a jump on me. I followed suit and started to reel him back in. Just as I reached his rear bumper we both let off.

Not sure why he let off, I was the one in the shit box with 4 drag radials and doing a buck 40 with a fairly nice curve in the freeway coming up. After we both slowed down, he gave an enthusiastic thumbs up and carried on his way. This was years ago.

A brand new 317kw R8 ute (kinda simular to the poniac GTO) These are aussie built muscle cars with a 6lt engine, they think they're king of the road, very satisfying to beat them. Was from a standing start.
