First off, let me say that I hate posting new threads.
Okay, I'm having a problem with my air bag light. I just threw in an aftermarket head unit and in the process, I had to unplug all the wires from the center panel to get to the stock head unit. Now, once I did the switch, my air bag light came on and now it won't go away. I tried reseting the ecu and disconnecting the battery but no luck. Is there a switch to turn it off. Can some one please help.
thanks

The procedure in the mkiv link is the same procedure as in the Toyota service/shop manual. You have to get the timing right. It threw a 22 code, I believe...2 flashes and then a pause. It just worked on my 93.5 TT. No more flashing SRS light on the dash. Apparently, if you have a flashing or solid SRS light on, the SRS system is disabled.

I didnt get it to work the first time either, you have to make sure you have one wire going to TC, A Separate wore going to AB. Make sure the wires are connected to the AB and TC terminals.
Then you need to do it in consistent rhythm like stated on mkiv.com
Tap the negative battery terminal with the TC wire, then the AB wire, TC , AB , TC and AB again like you are playing a set of drums. I got the light to turn off on my second try.

it takes me on the secong tap with the TC wire and the air bag light goes off but I have to leave the wire connected to the negative. Then my trac, cruise and abs start flashing. Then my air bag light comes back on and start flashing too. So, as soon as I disconnect the wire, everything goes back to normal and the airbag light stays on. I've been trying for 2 hours. I called the toyota shop to see if they'd turn it off for me but it's going to cost $95 just to test it, + labor.

I've been having the same problem...I reset the ECU by taking off the negative cable of a couple of seconds, then do the whole airbag reset proceduce as per MKIV.com, the airbag light goes off, but as soon as I restart the engine or put back on the car, the freaken airbag light comes back on. Thinking that I need to reset the airbag light, I try again, but nothing this time, the airbag light doesn't even go into the same blinking phase that the initial time it went through. If it is a error code, couldn't one reset it with a scanner tool such as a OBD II scanner tool?

The only thing i can suggest is for you to ask people that are close by you to take a look at it, if they have had a similar problem. Otherwise if it bothers you that much then just pay the dealer or take out the airbag bulb.

you can just take the light bulb out. I first try the article on MKIV.com and it worked. Just keep doing it. Try doing it faster or slower. It took me like 25 minutes. I didn't stop until it work. I did this like two weeks ago. If it wasn't going to work I was going to take the little light bulb out. Because my car was do for safety inspection. So it wouldn't have passed. I'm sorry I don't have a better method for you. That worked for me, so i know it works. Good luck.

Old thread but same problem as in this one. I've tried the AB TC thingy but no luck. I got code 14 on my supra when reading the error codes blink. The odo was taken out and the car was started without it, can this have caused the issue with my code 14 or is code 14 always somthing with the airbag at the steering wheel.

How is the TC/AB method supposed to work, when I touch the ground connected to TC the light goes off, and then comes up again after 5 seconds, as soon as it touches AB it goes on again. So TC off, then AB back on immediately. Not sure if I'm doing it right but I've tried 100's of different paces..

Would like to try another airbag ECU for sure.

Does anyone know if is the same airbag ECU on JDM cars and Euro / US spec? I have a friend with a JDM car and was going to try his ECU.

You don't even need to remove the bulb. Just remove the 10A fuse in the underdash fusebox labeled ECU-B and the light will go out. I pulled my fuse last summer and read this thread went out to the shop put the fuse back in and cleared the code on the first try. Before i pulled the fuse i must have tried clearing the code at least 20-30 times. Hopefully the light stays off.

I had the same issue. It worked the first time then a couple years later it came back on and the MKIV technique didn't work. It turned out that my airbag ecu (under the armrest) was fried. I replaced that and the light went off! You may want to check you airbag ecu...Darshana S...
