What's up everyone Im looking to get some coilovers for my Supra but dont know what to get. I want to stay under 2K dollars and was leaning towards HKS Hypermax S, but I was also I was told that BC BR and Fortune 500 are good as well, but what do yall think? How do each one ride because, I will do street stuff with some light drag stuff. But what do yall think?

I would do BC with Swift or Fortune 500s if you love your car and will keep it long time. If you plan on being super agressive then Fortune because of the rebuild department turn arounds. However with BC you buy new shock and change it up, however springs do wear Swift slower than most.

with BC or Fortune I would lean towards 12k front and 8K. 14k front if you go bbk. A big time helper is also Titan Sway bars.

Love the RP03's!

(purchase from Princess Motorsports of course the Man that has been yelled at by both companies for being too picky)

I'm not a fan of anything BC makes, but one of the more expensive F brands with the Swift upgrade would be a solid choice.

The HKS ride absolutely fantastic, but I've seen some recent posts that HKS won't support them if they have any issues, despite having a 3yr warranty. It's a crapshoot with them; I would absolutely recommend them otherwise.

@Drizzoh Damn when BC first started they were using KTS Cores and components, I guess something has changed. And now they're using Ali Booboo as well. :(

Makes sense, thank you for the honesty.
I know you sell them so I don't want to rip into them too hard, but I'm really just not a fan. Seems many like them, but I've installed suspension on probably 80 or so vehicles by now and been thru at least 10 different brands on personal vehicles trying to find the right fit and am pretty bias about the ride characteristics (with the most recent BC install maybe 3 years ago on a Golf wagon for one of my neighbors). Tein is always my go-to though whether it's their Flex line or something like S-Techs paired with Koni or Bilstein shocks. They just consistently ride and perform great on the street (with the exception of the FRS - something is screwed up in their valving on that platform) and I never have a second thought recommending them. But FWIW I do not love the Tein Basis line as much and I also have no love for KSport, D2 or anything with Max in the name. I do wish there were more quality options for these cars though. KW also makes a nice coilover, but that wasn't one of the OP's choices. That said I have an extremely tuned setup on my truck from ADS and it rides incredible, but the Flex feel just about perfect for my MK3 - still in the tuning phase as I've been tweaking everything in the suspension this year, so something might change regarding preload or spring rate up front, but the damping curve seems to work well.

Anyways, sorry to threadjack. Good luck OP, I just want you to be comfortable, so you don't hate being in your car.

Agree with this.

Of the brands listed, I would recommend HKS Hipermax S despite the one example cited of HKS no longer supporting the product. I've had six sets of HKS coilovers over three vehicles over the years and have never had a problem.

My faith in HKS quality is such that I would take the risk of of purchasing its coilovers based upon my extensive experience with various HKS products over the years. Besides, I think some innovative types will fill the void left by Feals at some point, making HKS support, if it was ever needed, largely academic.

Thanks Ken.

Probably 2 months ago we just install a set of the HKS Hipermax S's onto my buddies R32 GTR to replace the ancient OG Ohlins and untunable Tein setup that has probably been on the car since the early 2000's and the ride quality is much improved, but both of those old setups were blown out. Tein has definitely come a long way since their early offerings though. We actually tried to get Flexes for it, but they were pema-backordered and we found the HKS locally in stock. We are still in the tuning phase for that car as well, but out of the box the ride is what I've come to expect from HKS and they are beautifully made.

I've driven both, the HKS and the BC coilovers. To be honest they both have their own place.
My personal preference goes to the HKS Hipermax, however the BC's are hard to beat for the money. And for 99% of us the BC would do just fine. I just like the adjustability of the HKS better.

I recently switched from BC to HKS Hipermax S' for no other reason than I wanted a fresh set of coils since my car came with the BC's when I bought it.

Was a noticeable difference in ride quality overall, but I was more than happy with the BC's before they came off. I haven't posted them for sale yet but would be willing to let them go if you're interested OP.

What was the difference in ride quality? Was it more stiff or the responsiveness? What is the main factor between the two that you didnt like about them?

I think you should read this before making your decision. See thread below
(47) THE SAD STATE OF HKS PRODUCT SUPPORT IN 2025 | Supra Forums

I have ran HKS since 2008 starting with the Hipermax 2 series. I've had several different sets over the years. The majority of this time I was living in Florida, which is flat straight roads and they held up great. I then moved out to the west coast and started to do mountain and canyon driving a lot (Angeles Crest Highway type), and started to learn the limitations of parts (for example I smoked a set of OEM rotors on one 2 hour session).

Getting to the point, one of the coilovers lost it's charge and product support was non existent, (2 years old) so out of warranty

BC and fortune auto will sell you any part for your coilover with a click of a button whether you bought them 2 months or 6 years ago. HKS you will be in an uphill battle

If you are in Texas I think you will be ok since you are not too putting too much stress on suspension components with those roads.

It might be worth a shot. I got lucky and a Supraforums member saw my thread and sold me a set of rears and now I am back on the road again. FWIW HKS USA also said all rebuilds need to go to Japan now, even I you bought a set of Hipermax S, so expect some downtime if something happens.

Honestly the best set Ive ever owned were the HKS Hipermax 2 back in the day, alot of similarities in those to the KW coilovers, similar design, stainless steel shock housing etc

Curious how you set them up. I've driven two Supras with BC's and they were really good. Very comfortable as well. As said, my own car has the HKS Hipermax IV GT.

To the OP if possible try to get a ride from a fellow supra owner to feel different setups. But you can't go wrong with the HKS imo.

Before I installed my Hipermax S coilovers on Eau Rouge, I had a set of HKS Hipermax IIIs on the car. I put 10k miles on those coilovers before selling them to @FastTurbo and received very positive feedback from him despite the mileage. Despite what other HKS coilovers were on the market, I would not hesitate to acquire a NIB set of Hipermax IIIs if they became available.

I've had BC BR on both my mk3 supra and SC300.

I hate how they feel on my MK3, always too soft at low speeds, and like to wallo around (full soft) but felt good at 40-50+ plus. if I put 6 clicks up they felt good at low speed but horrid at high speed. I could never find the right balance. I was told by some others I just needed to add more pre-load, but I followed the directions on installing and did half a turn when there was resistance for pre-load.

On my sc300 i hated them so much I pulled them out a month after... I now have Tien Advance Z, which uses the stock upper pillows, and don't have real height adjustment. I set them to where they say in the instructions (not lower) and they feel 1000% better than the BC. They are no nearly as stiff, as I don't like stiff suspension, but they are much more sporty, and i'm at about 8 click or so. The issue with people saying the Tien are too soft is becuase they lower the car too much and unload the shocks to get them that low making it really really soft. the higher you go the stiffer the shock gets. So using the manual specifications keeps you in that sweet spot.

I'm not sure if the BC BR is just simply a mismatch of shock/preload or damping but it doesn't feel balanced IMO. You don't need to have a bumpy ride to have very good handling, I learned that many years ago. You car can be pretty soft and cut some amazing track times, so unless you like boncing around like a gumball, that's up to you.

I plan on revalving my BC BR for my mk3, to see if I can get them somewhere I like. There was a guy on club lexus that copied the gixxer drew setup on the BCBR revlaving with the bilstein valves that was my plan.

I've had BC's on my ISF when i first got the car, and they rode like absolute dog shit. i seriously think chiropractors invested into BC's so you can pay them a visit more!

i installed HKS Hipermax 4's in 2019 and they did a great job, night and day difference. im going to install the S' eventually since i think one of my coilovers are going out (haven't checked), but this is also putting over 125K+ miles and counting on them, being my daily going through harsh winters and salt. i wouldn't hesitate on putting another set on... just my .02.

Side question: does anyone use coilover covers/socks?
