If you look at the rpm points for 300hp and 900hp, you'll see about 4900 rpm and 6700rpm, compare those two points off the speed graph, for a difference in 1800 rpm there's only 23mph difference, and on the speed graph after 900hp there's 50mph of power production left even though there's only 1300 rpm left til redline on the rpm chart after 900hp.

This shows the disconnection between speed, rpm and power from the auto.
