Started with the 3S-GTE in the 90's, later they went to the 3UZ-FE V8's, all-motor built to to GT500 class horsepower limits until 2003 or 2004 when they replaced the JZA80 in GT500 class racing with the UZZ30.Also, for the record, Supra JGTC cars did not use 2JZ's. They used 3S-GTE.
I suppose I should have mentioned (again) that the only reason the 3S-GTE or 3UZ-FE were ever used instead of the 2JZ was the HP restriction at 500ps for GT-500, and the class rules that allowed in-make engine swaps.true but it does pretty well with the 2j as shown here:
Totally stealing that!....vapid vomitbots....
That doesn't surprise me at all. R Factor and I Racing also have a Supra and i think its heavily front biased with snap oversteer as well. Its probably because the same millenials that dont read publications are programming these games with their biases based on their GT experience. We might have lost out completely virtually but I guess the car's value IRL is higher than most of those cars so i guess it evens out somehow in the end.If we're talking about supra's being nerfed in a game. I think there's an arcade game that might be guilty of it. Which is Wangan Midnight Maximum tune. The supra is one of the cars in the game that has the highest top speed when fully tuned. which is 351km/h. The other car that shares that top speed is the gtr r35. It's compared to the GTO in the game as one of the hardest to handle cars. The supra got better handling and acceleration in wmmt6. The weight of the car in game is more frontish. The acceleration is meh compared to other car. This is because the boost that the supra has is average in game.
Most races will use the 700-800hp range for races in-game. The main reason why its average compared to other cars in game is because of the weight of the car ingame. Thing is though in wmmt the supra jz is kinda average compared to the best cars in the game which would be anything in the rx series, the skyline gtr series, or an Mitsubishi evo series.
Here's how the game site describes the a80 supra:

That's the thing, the 777 figure is replacing the crank w/ stroker, porting the heads, bigger bore, forged rods and wrist pins, higher compression pistons, balancing and blueprinting, cams, the biggest turbo with a new manifold, standalone and rolling anti-lag. Its not a stock motor with a big turbo on it. A real Supra with that much work done with a modest big turbo (76mm) should easily double that number. With a trick ECU with TC and all the other supporting mods (boost by speed) you could even get away with racing it on a track. It simply isn't "real simulator" numbers. I would expect that number out of a V6 that has little aftermarket like a 2GRFE Toyota V6 from a Camry. Kaz probably didn't want Mclaren P1 GTR, Bugatti Chiron and Aston Martin Valkarie to get manhandled by a 40 year old Toyota with "15 grand of parts under the hood from Japan". If you do those same mods to other platforms, it probably will not make more than a Supra IRL but they do easily in the game. That's all I am saying.777hp seems reasonable (if not generous) for a stock block/head Supra to me btw. Maybe this should be a discussion on the dyno brands commonly used in the US compared to those in Oceania, Asia, Europe and the Gran Turismo universe.
I run the ultra-high turbo (or whatever they call it) and it certainly has more HP than the medium offering. I have two Supra's in the game. One is a visual copy of my own car and runs a conservative 400-500HP whereas my other car is a widebody with 883HP (no nitrous). I believe this is the max figure with the 2JZ in the Supra. Neutered? Yeah probably but it's a tyre frier and undeniably fun. You have a lot of control on gearing, tuning, aero and suspension that in a way offsets what might seem like an understated 'official' HP rating.
It's perhaps advertised as a simulator and I'm not really sure on that. It's still very much a game but in terms of handling realism it's certainly better than earlier generations. Even with a really good simulator set-up it's obviously not as immersive as the real thing so it's hard to compare with reality but I've always felt the Supra in the game with some tweaks does feel pretty Supra'esque and enough to satisfy me from an entertainment perspective.
