I'm new to all this (rx7 man) how can I tell if the supra engine block is a turbo or non turbo (86-87)?

You see I did a head job on my cousin's supra, but it does'nt feel to have much power just like it was working when he bought it.

The car feels like a car that supposed to have a turbo, and the turbo is not working.

Its like driving a n/a car with a 8.1:1 compression ratio.

Where is the turbo wastegate or tubo actuator located on the engine?

So he does have a Turbo its just not working? You shouldnt be driving around like that....

The actuator is bolted on to the bottom of the turbo, its the size of an oreo if that helps any :)

Sorry, I don't know the differences between the blocks, hopefully somebody who knows jumps on this thread... I'll ask around and see.

The head and block are the same. The turbo's have distributerless ignition and a different intake cam in the head. The block has lower-compression pistons and oil squirters for the bottom of the pistons. If the top plastic trim peice says "7m-ge", then you might have an NA engine. If it says "7M-GTE" then someone probably put in a turbo engine.

Also going on Kirks "damn the turbo only added 30hp", keep in mind the torque went from 187 to 245 (252).

Redline remained at 6500 from 88 to sometime in 91 if I recal correctly. Some 91s have a 6500 redline while others have 6250. My 89 is 6500.

TO throw a wrench into the mix, my 1991 Cressida that came with the 7M-GE and the Turbo intake manifold (Maybe to stop it from outpacing the N/A supra? The turbo intake manifold is a restriction on N/A cars, but I digress.) has a redline of (from what I see) 6000 rpm.
