so far i have Toyo Proxes 275/30/19, traction was good, even in the rain, but was way to small.... (rim was bulging out a bit)

now i run Conti Sport2 295/30/19, surprised that traction is alot better even on turns, its glued to the road even when i toss the car on a hard u-turn.... and really good on the rain as well

im curious about the Continental ContiSportContact 2 Vmax anyone? there supposidly good 225mph

responses for those that run 19s, so we could all know which tires to stay away from and which to try next..... thanks

im buying a set of 19 inch wheels soon and i am wondering also which tires would be best...
also do you guys with the 19's feel any differnce in power and accel...i dont mean that you have slower acceleration becasue u get worse traction..but im asking if its a very noticeable difference with the 19's while highway racing and all that...do you guys feel a noticeable difference in top end power...are there any cars that u beat and then werent able to beat after you put the 19's on..
i ask these questions becasue they way it seems is that every single person that has 18" wheels swears by them....i mean i can see that but seriously..i wonder why all the new car makers are putting 19 and 20 inch wheel setups on thier high performance models...i dont see why they would do it if it hurts performance...
i honestly think that its hard to even notice becasue it seems like it would be such a small difference for a street car..i could see if u were running time trials at the road course but not on the street...
whats everyones opinions on this...

hey xxcloudxx...what size wheels suspension and offsets do you run??..i am in the middle of purchasing wheels and they are def gonna be 19's but idk if i should get a 9.5 inch wheels in the back with an aggresive offset to give the car a wide stance with 295's in the back..or just go with 10.5 in the rear...with probably the same 295 tire in the rear...idk what the difference would be but basically i want my car to have a nice wide stance from the back with minimal fender work if possible(car just got fresh paint).with a meaty tire..and 275's are too skinny IMO..
if anyone can help me out with some info it would help alot...i just dont want to be dissapointed with my wheel size selction because it will be an expensive mistake...

thanx
Anthony

Based on my experience over the last couple thousand miles using the Pirelli Corsa R compound tires on the street (as I've mentioned before, I don't think I'd like them as a track tire since the tire body doesn't feel stiff enough but IMO that further makes them nicer for the street), I have 285/30X18R and 255/35X18F, they seem to be holding up very well, have decent to good wet traction ...I don't hammer it in the wet anyway but it's not like ice skating... and the traction is GREAT, so if I had more power than my healthy BPU car and also just had to have 19" tires, I'd consider these Corsas; they come in a 285/35YR19 if that's not too skinny for you.

Could you post pics (or email to chris@vtg35.com) of your setup I'm looking at the same sizes and would like to see how they fit. Are you lowered?

i don't think you can run any wider than 285s on a 19" rim without fender modifications with your normal 'off the shelf' offsets.
i just ordered some volk 19" volks off dusty from mvp and i've got bfg t/a kdw2 tyres wrapped on them.
245/35/19 fronts, 285/35/19 rears.
i'm also getting height adjustable coilovers that should help me set the car at a height where the tyres won't rub.

I have the new michelin ps2's and I love them. But I ran a 295 in the rear instead of the 315 on 19's because I wanted a little more sidewall. Traction in great, road noise is fine and ride is a little firm but not harsh.

I still dont really understand why some people go to 19's, no real advantage to speak of...

IMO the difference between the 18 and 19 inches on the supra makes a huge difference in looks...there is no comparison..some wheels look straight up ugly on the supra in 18's but are beutiful in 19's...idk..also im not talkin about in pictures either..im talkin lookin at them in person...i could make a supra with 16 inch wheels look sick in a picture if i wanted to...

also i ahve eibachs with kyb's and the drop isnt too extreme but i am sure im gonna have to roll my fenders a little bit but i just dont want major rubbing where it is unbearable and i can drive the car...there has to be people with wide 19's on thier car that could tell me a good size that wotks decent with slight fender work..also do the fenders need to be rolled in the front at all with like 245 or 255's in the front???

and invazn what would u say is an off the shelf offset for volks...i am gonna order volk sf challenges..also did you go with 9.5 in the rear or 10.5 on the rim width??

thanx

anthony,

well originally, i wanted 10.5 rears on my car but then i found out that with the offsets i'm getting, i will be limited to 285 rear tyres if i don't modify the fenders.
seeing as how i don't want to modify them, there was no point buying 10.5" wide wheels if the max i could go is 285 which would fit fine on a 9.5" wheel.
it's lighter and cheaper and can still have a 285 tyre wrapped around it.

when i said of the shelf, i meant those listed on mvp.
they stock all sorts of volks ranging from 17-19 inch diameters and all come with correct offsets to whack straight onto the supra.
i do believe that on all of their 19" wheels, the wdiest they recommend going is 275 on the rear if you want to keep the stock fenders.

PS2s here as well, 275/30/19, front, and 315/25/19, rear. I agree with Kerry's assessment. I don't have a lot of miles on these tires yet (went on just before SILV05), but I have a ton of miles on PS2s on my C 32. According to Tire Rack, it's pretty much the best tire available in 19s, although pricey as heck.

I sent you a PM with a couple pic links; plus in the NE section here there is a thread with a short vid of me and two other Supras pulling out of a recent meet and it has a "decent" side shot which might show you something about how mine fit, look at the vid called "Leaving38" in post #36 in this thread:

http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=322073&page=2

And if this link works, at another meet recently at Valley Forge Park somebody got this one of my car: http://www.elit3.com/upload.php?file=Pictures_0624009.jpg

Let me know if that works for you or if you have questions.

Ken,
I know we both agree on the michelin ps2's but on a previous post you said you were going to take the supra out for an "agressive" drive after SILV05. I wonder if you got a chance and what you thought any differences were since you had 18's on before. I love mine but I have not had a chance to push them to their limits yet.

I also have PS2s on my BPU+ supra and I need more grip, the tires are almost new and still they lose traction i second gear when the second turbo kicks in. I have 295/30-19, I'm looking for BFG g-Force T/A Drag Radial but they don´t make them in 19' :( 18' is the biggest .

I don´t get it, im only at BPU+ and still having problems with traction  (I live in Sweden where it´s quite cold, 6-10 degress C outside at the moment).

ken/everyone else:

ive ordered 19" ccw's, and am trying to figure out which ps2's to go with. Im on stock suspension, and would prefer no fender mods if possible. Ive been told that i can fit 265/30s in the front and 305/30s in the back. Ken, you have 275/30s and 315/25s, at the very least, I would love to do 275/30s in the front and 305/30s in the rear.

Thanks,
Mike
