Played some poker with friends last night. Needless to say I loss a lil bit of change. So I went for a cruise to cool down. I usually drive my car (just all over) when I'm bored or depressed.

It was like 11:30ish or so I'd like to say. Just cruising around with the occasion pulls. I'm still within the neighborhood so I watch my speed.

Not sure if it was too dark or blurry, but a median strip (not sure what to call it) about 4" high just appear in front of me. I braked but it was kinda late when I saw it.

When I first looked at it, I thought it wasn't bad. I saw my front bumper gone which I was semi excited about. I saw all 4 Volks are bent, which I thought was the worse part. Now I find out my front subframe needs to be replaced cause a mount broke.

I've still to get quoted on parts and labor. I'm sure I can't do this myself.

------------------------

I'm not really asking for pity or anything as this was my fault. When I read people's threads on this subject I don't really know what to think, and I guess I do now.

Sub frame replacement isn't too bad as long as you have a hoist to support the motor while it is unbolted. Can't remember what they are from Toyota, but you might be able to find one used. At least it didn't take out your intercooler. Just zip tie your rack on and you should be good to go!~

Too bad, I can imagine how you feel. I hate even getting miniscule dings in mine. But it's repairable and you're not injured, so live and learn. Fix it up, move on, enjoy life and try your best to not let it happen again.

I would go through insurance on this one. Too much money to fix out of pocket; wheels, paint, subframe replacement. Bite the bullet and report it to insurance assuming you have comprehensive.

I'm sorry Mike. I've been there too, believe me. Glad you personally are okay. :(

The same happened to me when I was driving though my neighborhood. They recently blacktopped our street. They forgot to inform us that they installed speed bumps on this new road also. No letter, no signs, and they didn’t even stripe off the speed bump. I slammed into the speed bump pretty hard and was lucky to walk away with just a slight dent in my exhaust. I went off on my realtor and all they said was, “you should have drove slower.” Well, I went back and poured about 5 gallons of used motor oil on the speed bump because it breaks up blacktop and went back later that night with a pickaxe and took it out. Good times.

Big :bigthumb: to you. I absolutely love this idea. It takes a sound mind to come up with something like this. Sounds exactly like something I'd do. :bigthumb:

Mike,
Turn it into insurance, bite the bullet, and have it brought back to stock. You know you want to anyway :)
