LED Headlight Kit Options ?

Hello all,

I know perhaps this fits more in the ICE forum but there is maybe a post a week in there so here goes.

My Phillips 9006 DS2/D2R 35W HID kit purchased from the group buy on the forums a gazillion years ago
finally tapped out. When people see it they laugh at how large the ballasts are, that's how old this kit is!

Anyways, its 2023, does anyone have recommendations for L.E.D. kits for our cars for low beams ? I have a full size battery and the stock intake so fitment is tight. I would be open to HID kit recommendations as well. Online I see pricing vary, I'd like to buy the best quality kit available without the need to replace it anytime soon. No fancy retrofit kits though, something plug and play would be great.

Thanks all, pic for heck of it. :)

Len,

My very strong recommendation is to do what I did. Work with @FastTurbo and @MKIIIHATER and get MKIIIHATER's Lexus RX 350 HID retrofit on a set of 97/98 headlights. I had a set installed on Eau Rouge and liked it so much, I had another set installed on Blackie. The end result is fantastic and it's hard to beat Toyota/Lexus quality, durability and reliability.

Hope this helps.

Ken.

EDIT: My FAVORITE BB car!

Guys! It’s 2023 we have a few more options in todays lighting. Moved away from the rx350 only because the LED projectors out in today market is very good and doesn’t clutter up the back of the headlights and done at least 10+ sets

I have a few options for you guys can PM me I can supply entire kit or it can be sent to me. And I do have LHD and RHD cutoffs specifically for cars in America or any other countries that are RHD.

Thank you
-Eric

Sorry I don’t know how to PM on this forum. When I go to your profile, I don’t have an option to? Could you please pm me? I will probably ship both my headlights to ya from the UK.

I did this set on my car probably 6 years ago. All under Eric's guidance. One of those amazing mods you didn't know you'd like more then half the stuff I'd done to the car. Only thing I'd do different now is use a nice quality led projector to cut down on wiring and ballasts. These are lexus rx350 bi xenon lows with morimoto bi xenon fogs. Both lights work together or separate. High beam turns both to high beam. The light output could give pedestrians a tan.

Are there any decent 'plug in' LED headlight kits. IE. Something that doesn't require you to separate the headlight housing to retrofit new projectors.

Maybe I'm living in the past but I always though the HID's on my old car were great. I'd even go back to that tbh but I know LED's are the bees knees these days. Surely there's an easy LED replacement of sorts that is as easy as a HID install with comparable brightness?

You might like these:

I have them for well over a year now and still really really like them.

Interested in getting this done as well, planning on buying a pair of the Euro glass headlights. Should I do it with those, or with the USDM 97-98?
